I feel Great! juice cravings.
Possible names!? Eli Brandon and Isla Marie!
Tracy and I took a mini babymoon! We spent a week in the Florida Keys!
Crunchy cravings recently and healthy food still ins’t my favorite.
On Monday, 3/26, I had my 11 week appointment with Dr. Zerkle (ok, technically I was 10w6d, but who’s counting…).
The check-up went great! The first thing they did was check all of my levels - weight (happy to report I am only up 3 pounds), proteins, blood pressure - and everything was perfect. Then the nurse asked if we wanted to try find the baby’s heartbeat with a portable doppler. Um, hello? Of course we did! She started on the left side of my belly, and I was quite positive we wouldn’t find anything there since I knew I had ovulated from the right side. I tried to stay patient while she eventually made her way over to the right side. Boy - was it stressful. I couldn’t even look at Tracy. After a few minutes she paused and said, ‘Do you hear that?’ Uh, no. She then told us that that was the heartbeat! It was faint, but once you knew what to listen for you could pick it out immediately. It sounded like a tiny choo-choo train going very fast! She counted the beats and told us it was a very healthy 168bpm! With a portable doppler they want the heartbeat to fall between 130-170. Small Ball was right on target.
Of course I started asking questions about the rate and gender…but they only said that it will change every time. Darn! ;)
The doctor went over symptoms and we went over my questions. I go back in 4 weeks (April 23rd) for another check-up. The apt after that is the big one - anatomy ultrasound. I. Can’t. WAIT!
How am I feeling? I still feel great! I’m not as tired, my face is still a mess, and my bloat is still around, but maybe not as bad. I have rocked some maternity T’s (only because they are super soft and comfy) and love my belly band. Buttons are just the devil at this point. I also admit that I purchased a pair of maternity pants for work. They are enormous (I got a size up) but feel like pajamas. I may never wear real pants again. I ahve also been getting out of breath easily - must be all of the extra blood pumping through my system. And I’m pretty sure I felt my siatic nerve today - ouch! Every now and then I feel cramps or sharp twinges in my uterus - guess the baby is growing!
Cravings? Buiscuits. Oh yes, that one is still around. I could eat one any time of the day. In fact, on our way home from picking up the crib last night, my car just happened to pull into a Bojangles. I swear I had no control over it. ;)
